Certification

How Do I Get Involved in VALWOOD's Coaching Certification process? The VALWOOD Christian Leadership Coaching certification process begins with your participation in an Introduction to Christian Leadership Coaching Learning Experience. This learning experience focuses on helping participants who work in situations of Christian leadership to experience coaching and discover ways to use it in their work with congregational leadership. This course is primarily offered as an online learning experience. Cost: $125 per person. Discounts are available for persons from congregations affiliated with Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Contact Kim Duncan at KDuncan@Hollifield.org or call 828-441-3146 for information on how to register. Following the introductory experience, individuals with coaching potential are invited to continue with certification. To complete the certification process a participant must: - Take part in a three-day Foundations of Christian Leadership Coaching Learning Experience.
- Attend a three-day Elective Learning Experience: (choose one of the following learning experiences that best fits your need.)
- Personal Coaching
- Coach Approach to Evangelism and Discipleship
- Coaching Congregations
(Note: The Foundations and Elective Learning Experiences can be accomplished in one week at Hollifield, or can be done in separate weeks.) - Participate in six mentoring sessions led by a professional coaching instructor. Usually these are conducted through telephone conversations.
- Coach an individual or congregation concurrent with the mentoring coaching sessions.
- Participate in three tele-classes on group coaching and skill enhancement.
- Complete annual continuing education requirements for ongoing coaching certification. (See Advanced for continuing education options.)
Summary: The total cost for initial certification for 2008 is $2,948 per person (the total cost for members of BSCNC affiliated congregations is $1,798 per person). The fee includes all meals, refreshments, single room lodging, facility usage, certification leadership, and materials. For events at Hollifield the food and lodging coverage is from the beginning of each learning experience to the end. If it is necessary to arrive the night before or stay an additional night, lodging (and meals, if being served) can be purchased separately. For additional information, to inquire about dates, or to register, please contact Kim Duncan at 866-HLC-LHLC or 828-441-3146, or by e-mail at KDuncan@Hollifield.org.
